In France, the successive adoption of the Sapin 2 Law (2016), the corporations’ Duty of Care Act (2017) and the PACTE Law (2019) has made the assessment of environmental and social impacts a top priority when it comes to organizing and monitoring company activities.
The Duty of Care plan, which must be issued by “any company employing […] no fewer than five thousand employes in [France], or […] ten thousand employees […] internationally,” requires companies to perform ESG risk mapping.
